Jay of the Dead’s New Horror Movies is an audio podcast. Our nine experienced Horror hosts review new Horror movies and deliver specialty Horror segments. Your hosts are Jay of the Dead, Dr. Shock, Gillman Joel, Mister Watson, Dr. Walking Dead, GregaMortis, Mackula, Ron Martin and Dave Zee! Due to the large number and busy schedule of its nine Horror hosts, Jay of the Dead’s New Horror Movies will be recorded in segments, piecemeal, at various times and recording sessions. Therefore, as you listen to our episodes, you will notice a variety of revolving door hosts and segments, all sewn together and reanimated like the powerful Monster of Dr. Frankenstein!

A celebratory, Episode 100 confession from Jay of the Dead — *exclusively* for those who happen to read these typed show notes. Jay of the Dead wrote: I still remember producing Episode 001 of this podcast back in January of 2022, just 29 months ago. That was back when I was still hoping to release on a strict, bi-weekly schedule. For that first, multi-hour episode, I spent pretty much an entire weekend, something like 60-ish hours with, like, a total of four hours of sleep over the course of three days. I knew we had something special — what I truly believe amounts to “the gold standard of Horror movie podcasts” — but here’s what the weight of that first episode felt like for me: Have you ever been moving something heavy (like a piano), and you agree to take on the weight of that item, assuming that you can lift it? Then the weight is placed upon you and instantly fear fills your soul because it’s much, MUCH heavier than you expected? ha ha Well, that’s exactly how I felt after publishing that first episode. Sort of like, “Oh my goodness! What have I done? I’ve just ruined my life and created a MONSTER!” ha ha (And that was when the show only had five hosts! Now we have nine Horror Avengers, one in training, and an Official Contributor!) Real talk, heart to heart: I’ve taken much well-deserved razzing for dropping my previous Horror podcasts — The Weekly Horror Movie Podcast, Horror Metropolis, and of course, Horror Movie Podcast. But every single time I quit one of those shows, it was genuinely, deeply sad for me and not entirely of my own volition. But I am pleased to report that our sister show, Horror Movie Weekly, is still going strong with Mister Watson — and now Jay of the Dead’s New Horror Movies has hit Episode 100! I know our schedule is maddeningly mercurial and there are simply no words that capture the inexplicable chasm between when reviews are recorded and when they’re finally released, but even so… I believe that those who have stuck around, accept the show as it is, and just take any release that finally comes — I believe those listeners are rewarded. I am extremely proud of the work we’re doing. And now with no external forces of obligatory coercion, both HMW and NHM are free to thrive and LIVE like the prolific podcast monstrosities they are. And aside from Fatherhood, of course, I have never been prouder, more pleased, or more fulfilled with any other work I’ve done in my life. I’m thankful to my co-hosts and our listenership for contributing to a life’s work that I’m truly proud of. Sincerely, -J

Great 100th episode. Thanks for shoutout in last two minutes ha. And I laughed so hard when your guest said “undead Joel or whatever his name is”. Fun pig headed horror segment. Yall listed so many movies with pigs that beat ppl also. I always think of Hannibal when he gets fed to wild boars. Brutal. I really loved immaculate, Abigail, and late night with devil. All 3 will make my top 10 of year I suspect. Keep up the great podcast. I’ll listen to all 7 hours everytime. I still say the FF episode where your mom murders you was the best ha

In regards to Abigail, I definitely end up more on Joel’s side of the review. I’m shocked that Alexandre Bustillo & Julien Maury didn’t take legal action against the filmmakers since it’s reasonably similar enough in story & twist to Livid, though completely antithetical in terms of tone. That film is a solid 8/10, with Abigail sitting right around 6 or 6.5. Happy 100th episode, everyone.
