Children mostly survive in movies … mostly. Happy Halloween this month! Here in Episode 023 of Jay of the Dead’s New Horror Movies, the Halloween Horror Avengers fulfill a request by listener and friend of the show, Revolver_Benji (part-time musician, full-time badass), who asked if we’d Feature Review Alien3 (1992)! So, five of your nine hosts — Jay of the Dead, Dr. Shock, Mister Watson, Dr. Walking Dead and Mackula — spend about an hour giving you a SPOILER-FILLED, deep-dive discussion of the infamous, third installment of the Alien franchise. However, you might be as surprised as our hosts because this time around they found a lot more to appreciate about Alien3. Dr. Walking Dead leads the charge! Jay explains why Alien3 is by far the darkest, most brutal alien film. Mackula enlightens us on the differences between the theatrical cut and the “assembly cut.” And of course, we talk about David Fincher’s disenchantment and distancing himself from the film after suffering studio interference. Join us!

I have reviled this movie since I saw it opening night still aglow from from 86’s Aliens. Fincher’s re-release helped to not despise it as much but not until this episode have I had any – let alone so many – reasons to appreciate it. Mind officially blown!

My deepest thanks for inspiring me to revisit Alien³.
